Along with Bryan Kelly, Peter Ryan was instrumental in the establishment of Victoria Police Legacy.The former superintendent had a deep commitment to developing ‘welfare’ schemes for existing police members and was inspired by the Queensland Police Legacy Scheme. Peter and Bryan approached Chief Commissioner Mick Miller about implementing a similar scheme in Victoria. Upon its formation, Peter was the inaugural Secretary and took over presidency from 1985 until 1992.
