Former Inspector and Victoria Police Legacy, Gary Storey saw many changes in his 30+ years of service to Victoria Police Legacy. His financial stewardship helped provide a sound foundation for the future and his organisational history and procedural acumen supported many of the Board Members during his time on the Board. Gary saw Victoria Police Legacy change its focus from just servicing the immediate needs of those within the policing family who had lost a loved one, too looking after police legatees long term and in a sustainable way. While changing the structure, Gary held firm to the basic tenets of Victoria Police Legacy which are mutual support from members to the widows, widowers and families of deceased colleagues. In the summer 2000 Gary wrote: - “I am not concerned that all eligible families don’t choose to be involved. I think it is good that people can get on with their lives but also know we are there if they need us”
